“Burton Bradstock Marathon” the second year of this Marathon Distance event that’s 26 miles 385 yards but will include a Half marathon a smaller 10km and 5km fun run.
With a change of starting location which is now located at the Cider farm within 100 yards of both the start/finish and car parking.
Children under 14 can run for free if they are accompanied by an adult they will get the same finishing medal as everyone else.
The Marathon will be a semi testing run with approximately 250 yards of grass to complete the two laps, with the half following the same route (1 Lap Half), (2 laps full).
The 10km and 5km are nice flatish affairs and in 2016 a few PB’s were achieved.
The route is a picturesque journey through some of the most spectacular Dorset countryside, classed as the gateway to the Jurassic coast it will follow quite roads taking you from Burton Bradstock to Litton Cheney, a picturesque village in the heart of Dorset, then on through Puncknowle before you head back towards Burton Bradstock and the spectacular views back towards the Jurassic coast, all routes will return through Burton Bradstock itself, time if you have the energy to take in the Beauty around you, The marathon will follow two laps of the Half marathon course, so you get the chance to have encouragement from family and friends as you pass near the finisher arch on your first LAP, a comprehensive feed stop should you want it will be waiting at the half way point, we will also have feed station on the 10km and half marathon course.
Having learnt and listened from 2016, we have made a few changes including making the start more accessible, some interesting additions to the feed stations, and a reduced price for the Marathon also with the start and finish at the cider farm, a pint awaits should that be your thing, as always coffee and cake will also be available to purchase, a very welcoming and friendly event , where we want everyone who starts to finish, even if its 7/8 hours, you have really no excuses to not try a Marathon.
