In moderation, stress is a useful tool for promoting personal development but when it becomes chronic
, it can lead to depression and disease. This 8 week course is designed to help individuals learn and practice techniques that help relax the body and mind
, whilst building our bodies’ resilience to future stress
. In this way we think more clearly and make better decisions by connecting with ourselves more and identifying our own desires and needs.
This course has been delivered successfully to a range of charities and community organisations across the Midlands such as Autism West Midlands, Cares Sandwell and SAFS. This is the first time it is available to the general public.

What previous participants from Autism West Midlands Sandwell have said
I’ve found the relaxation classes of great benefit.
My life can be stressful at times looking after my son, caring for my mom and working. The breathing exercises have worked great especially at times when I’ve been feeling stressed and don’t have time to sit and relax. It’s something that you can do anytime, any place.
I suffer with migraines/headaches and since doing the Monday classes, I haven’t suffered at all on a Monday.
I have done the relaxation CD at home and I’ve found this very beneficial too. It’s learnt me how to stop and switch off for a while.
I’ve also learnt the benefits of certain foods and why we need them and how they can help combat stress and other problems.
I will definitely look into doing something similar now the classes have finished and would recommend them to anyone who has a stressful life and needs to learn to relax.
Generally more ‘awake’ during the day. My body lets me know more when it needs to relax. For the first time I listen! Tummy improvements.
I am recovering from stressful events and situations much quicker. On Mondays especially I feel a lot more grounded and less ‘on alert’.
My ears seem less blocked up and my head is less ‘heavy’. I often would have to hold my head in my hands to support it but now I feel less aware of it.
I think feeling calmer has helped me to manage the children better but it has also given me clarity to see things in my life that are making me unhappy and take steps to change those.
I am more aware of when I am taking too much on and I need to stop.
My thoughts have improved a lot. I am able to cope with stress overall.
