Bristol: Ivo Graham: No Filter

January 15, 2016 at The Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol.

It’s the first Chuckle Busters of the year and our first at the brand new Wardrobe Theatre!

Chuckle Busters presents Ivo Graham’s hit 2015 Edinburgh Fringe show No Filter ahead of a run at the prestigious Soho Theatre. Album three (The Queen is Dead, OK Computer, etc) from Graham after 2014’s ‘joyous show’ (Evening Standard), and this year there’s apparently a bit more bite to the boy’s bark. Can this be true? Definitely worth investigating. As seen/heard on BBC Three’s Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live, and Sweat the Small Stuff; Comedy Central’s Live At The Comedy Store; BBC Radio 5 live’s Fighting Talk; and XFM’s Josh Widdicombe show.

“Ivo Graham is maturing into a fine comic.”
The Scotsman

“Cleverly constructed comic timing.”

Bristol: I’m almost bloody 30!

January 30, 2016 at Bristol in Bristol.

So for those of you who knew about it, I’ve decided against going to London for the Helloween/Shinedown gigs. It would have been expensive, and mid week and I’m not particularly keen on London anyway.

The plan now is to spend the day in Bristol and do a couple of room escape games (I wanted to do 3-4 until I found out how much they cost).

We’ll meet soomewhere in Bridgwater around 10 for breakfast then either get a train or drive (if enough people are willing to drive) to Bristol for around 11.30-12ish.

There are a few options available with no paricular ‘best’ option until I have a number of how many people will be coming.

These are:
Puzzlair has 4 different rooms for 2-5 players and the price is £17 each for 5 people which increases if you have less players.
Fathom escape has only 1 room for up to 10 players, but it’s the cheapest at £15 per person.
Locked in a room has 4 identical room for up to 5 players each so we’ll be competing against each other at £20 per person.
They are all 1 hour long.

We’ll head somewhere for food after, the obvious place I can think of is Zaza Bazaar but am open to suggestions of other places that can seat a lots of people together

Then back to Bridgwater for a big piss up in the evening (with most definitely a nep break in between because I’ll be an old bastard by this time).

I will be looking to book the escape rooms next Monday (11th January) I have to have a final number by the end of this weekend, SO IF YOU WANT TO COME YOU HAVE TO LET ME KNOW BY SUNDAY 10TH JANUARY AT THE VERY LATEST, THE EARLIER THE BETTER, as unfortunately I don’t have the cash to just go ahead and pay for it and collect it from you guys on the day, so I’ll need to collect the money before I book. I can come and collect it if necessary.

Anyone is welcome to either the Bristol part of the day or just the evening piss up, I apologise if I miss anyone out in the tagging/invite phase. Feel free to invite people that I may have missed.

Bristol: Swing Sundays with Molly and The Kings & Swing Dance Bristol (7pm)

January 17, 2016 at No.1 Harbourside in Bristol.

The doors to No.1 Harbourside will swing open for a night of hoppin’, stompin’ live music and dance. Jive along or just sit and soak up the atmosphere – entry is free and all are welcome!

Miss Molly Miranda King knows a thing or two about jazz singing – you can tell as much from the swing of her vocals and also by the people she picks to play for her – notably excellent pianist George Cooper and guaranteed swinging bass and drums rhythm section. It all adds up to some classic jazzing and no mistake.

Professional swing dance teacher Sophie Sheldrake will lead the dancing, coaxing out those swing steps to keep No.1 hoppin’ on a Sunday night.

Entry is free but please give generously to the collection bucket.
