Bristol: VDay Bristol 2016 – The Vagina Monologues

February 08, 2016 at Bierkeller Theatre in Bristol.

Bristol VDAY – 2016
The Vagina Monologues:
– Monday 8th Feb (7.30pm)
– Friday 12th Feb (6.30pm)
– Sunday 14th Feb (7:30pm)

Tickets £10 or £8 concessions. Or £20 for Vagina Monologues, MMRP/V-Men and Until the Violence Stops Forum and Film.

In it’s 3rd year – V Day Bristol will present a three-night only benefit reading of Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Vagina Monologues at the Bierkeller Theatre, as part of Bierkeller Theatre VDay Week.

This special benefit performance is presented this year as part of V-Day’s campaign ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE, a global call for women survivors of violence and those who love them to gather safely in places where they are entitled to justice – courthouses, police stations, government offices, school administration buildings, work places, sites of environmental injustice, military courts, embassies, places of worship, homes, or simply public gathering places where women deserve to feel safe but too often do not – and release their stories through art, dance, marches, ritual, song, spoken word, sit ins, and testimonies.

Hailed by The New York Times as “funny” and “poignant” and by the Daily News as “intelligent” and “courageous,” The Vagina Monologues, which was first performed off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences. Ms. Ensler has performed the play to great acclaim throughout the world – from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London to Seattle, from Jerusalem to Oklahoma.

This year we will be supporting local charity – Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support – SARSAS (formerly known as Bristol Rape Crisis).
All profits from ticket sales will go directly to The Vday Project and SARSAS.

“Spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving . . . it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural history, a poem and a polemic, a performance and a balm and a benediction.”

– Variety

“In the current era, it takes some brain racking to think of anyone else doing anything quite like Ensler. She’s a countercultural consciousness-raiser, an empowering figure, a truth-teller.”

– Chicago Tribune

“Eve Ensler wants to save the world…and don’t even think of getting in her way.”
