Cambridge: Leszek Balcerowicz: The Future of the Eurozone

January 27, 2016 at St John’s College in Cambridge.

Leszek Balcerowicz – Former Polish Finance Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the National Bank of Poland – shares his perspectives on the future of the Eurozone and on Poland’s potential entry to the monetary union.

The event will take place at the Old Divinity School, St John’s College, in the centre of Cambridge.

Please reserve a free ticket via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/leszekbalcerowicz-the-future-of-the-eurozone-tickets-19572015425

Leszek Balcerowicz is a key architect of Poland’s post-1989 economic success. As Finance Minister in the first elected government of the new democratic era, Balcerowicz authored and introduced a bold set of reforms to facilitate the country’s rapid transition from centrally planned to free market economy. The “Balcerowicz Plan” – or “Shock Therapy” – has been praised by economists across the world as a farsighted strategy and a crucial step on the path towards Poland’s current growing prosperity.

Professor Balcerowicz is currently a Distinguished Associate of the International Atlantic Economic Society. He is the founder and director of the Civic Development Forum (FOR), an independent think tank based in Poland. In 2014, he won the Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty.

Cambridge: GT presents THE GREAT BRITISH DRAKE OFF

In the spirit of hijacking current popular entertainment trends, reality television, and Hip Hop stars, for our second Cambridge event we are going to ‘Take Care’ of you by throwing an all out DRAKE SPECIAL.

DJs will be whisking up some their favourite Drizzy tunes until they run out, topped with some of our usual musical flavour. As we are really happy with our funny name we have spent way too long thinking of more lame (hilarious) puns:

Tu Pac Lunch
Afrika Bambattenberg

Come and enjoy a friendly, informal and fun wine journey through OLD WORLD and NEW WORLD wines, tasting at least 13 wines from around the world.

No previous experience necessary.

Beginning with Champagne, watch us open the bottle by ‘sabrage’ (using a sabre).

At Cambridge Wine School we host our Saturday Wine Courses in the beautiful surrounds of Gonville and Caius college, one of the oldest university colleges in Cambridge. Founded in 1348, it’s the one where Professor Stephen Hawking is a fellow.

Half way through the day we take a break from the hard work of wine tasting to enjoy a delicious two-course lunch.

This fascinating course is a great introduction to wine comparing the classic wine regions of France directly with the best the New World can offer using the same grapes.

Learn all the basics about the different grape varieties and compare the wines blind side by side. Learn how to taste wine like a professional.
