PA1 – £180 (includes VAT, all training and materials and one assessment)

Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides is a mandatory unit and is a prerequisite for further pesticide modules (e.g. PA2, PA6 etc). It is a theory based qualification covering legislation, product information, safety and emergency procedures, storage and transport, disposal, record keeping and environmental considerations. Assessment is in the form of a computer based multiple-choice test.

PA1 training is from 09:00 – 13:00, and assessment is 13:30 – 14:30 on the same day. Please wear casual, comfortable clothing.

Cambridge: VI Oxbridge Conference on Brazilian Studies

Our VI Oxbridge Conference on Brazilian Studies will happen on the 27th of May and the call for abstracts is now open.

The Conference is organised by the Cambridge University and Oxford University Brazilian Societies (CUBS and OUBS) and invites all students and researchers with projects related to Brazil to present their work. Participants from any university or country are welcome to present or attend as general public.

The panels will have 15-minutes presentations and will be divided among five areas – Economics & Politics, Health, Arts & Culture, Sustentability & Ecology and Sociology & Anthropology. If you are interested, please send an email to submissionoxbridge@gmail.com with your name, college and university affiliation, programme of study, title of paper and a short (300-word) abstract.

If your abstract is accepted, we will request you to send us your presentation slides one week before the conference. As the main aim of the conference is to discuss the researches and get feedback, submissions are often related to a work in progress or ideas for future research. Note that you are not required to circulate a paper.

An evening of video gaming for all the family!!

We’ll have more video games consoles and computers out for you to play than you can shake a stick at!

Can you beat dad at Space Invaders, or mum at Pac-Man? Find out at our Family Gaming Night!

We’ll be opening at 6pm for a solid 4 hours of digital entertainment in a fun and family friendly environment. There will be games that everyone can play from retro classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Tetris through to modern examples like Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It’s a great chance for kids and parents to come together, share experiences, compete against each other and talk, talk, talk about how technology and gaming have changed over the years.

A pleasurable event for all the family – kids young and old!!

The Pac Lunch shop will be open offering tea, coffee, cold drinks, chocolate, crisps and cereal bars to provide energising sustenance!

The event starts at 6pm and finishes at 10pm

Under 5’s are free.

Welsh pianist Llŷr Williams is widely admired for his profound musical intelligence, and for the expressive and communicative nature of his interpretations. Williams is an acclaimed performer of Beethoven with one complete piano sonata cycle under his belt and another under way. The first one in the form of an epic two-week marathon during the Edinburgh International Festival won him the prestigious South Bank Show award. At the Old Divinity School he’ll perform:

Beethoven: Piano Sonata No.30 in E major, Op.109
Beethoven: Piano Sonata No.31 in A flat major, Op.110
Beethoven: Piano Sonata No.32 in C minor, Op.111

Tickets are £16 or £6 students and are available online, over the phone and on the door.
