Sarah Fisher is a Tellington TTouch Instructor and has worked with a wide variety of animals for almost twenty years. She trained in the USA with Linda Tellington Jones and Linda’s sister Robyn Hood after reading about the Tellington TTouch in a book. It was Linda’s recognition that an animal’s behaviour is often linked to postural traits that really sparked Sarah’s interest in the technique and Sarah has researched this link in greater detail over the years.
Sarah works with private clients and teaches workshops for members of the public and re-homing centre staff focusing on mindful handling, nose games and ground work exercises for dogs and horses. She has given presentations and talks at many events and for animal welfare groups, behaviour counsellors, breed clubs, and trainers both in the UK and abroad. She is a regular speaker at the annual International Companion Animal Welfare Conference hosted by Dogs Trust.
Sarah is the author of two books, Unlock Your Dogs Potential and Know Your Horse Inside Out and co-authored 100 Ways to Train the Perfect Dog and 100 Ways to Solve Your Dogs Problems with Marie Miller, and The Difficult Horse with Karen Bush. She has recently been commissioned to write a book on donkeys with colleague and fellow TTouch Practitioner Trudy Affleck which will be published by Crowood Press in 2016. Sarah has contributed many articles to national and international publications and has been a regular guest on television and radio shows.
Sarah runs the UK office for Tellington TTouch Training from her farm near Bath which is also the base for a new project called Cool to be Kind which was launched in January 2014. She shares her life with her partner Anthony Head, their two daughters Emily and Daisy, six horses, six donkeys, and two dogs.

Nosey Barker are over the moon to welcome Grisha back to Harlow
Grisha will be delivering her amazing BAT 2 two day workshop and her third day advanced.

Course content for the two day course:

Check out the all-new Behavior Adjustment Training information in this Official BAT 2.0 seminar!
Fighting is expensive for dogs. Instead of jumping directly into fighting, most dogs give distance-increasing signals, from subtle to overt. But many dogs have also learned to give up on the subtle signals and leap straight to showing big aggressive displays, fighting, or fleeing in panic.
When dealing with aggression, fear, or frustration, BAT builds social skills, confidence around the trigger, and trust in the handler. While food or other rewards are used with BAT in certain situations, the main focus of BAT is on giving the dog maximal control in the desensitization process without interference from the handler. This technique is subtle, yet powerful, and should definitely go into your training toolbox.
This presentation will show many video clips with case studies using a variety of BAT set-ups, as well as videos of how to deal with problems that crop up, practical hands-on work for your own leash skills, and how to use BAT with other behavior modification techniques. We will discuss the science behind BAT and similar techniques, the reasons and ways that BAT is kept low-stress, how to get volunteers for set-ups, how to use BAT ‘undercover’ in the real world, how BAT compares to other methods, and more. You’ll also get some hands-on practice via roleplaying with leash handling techniques that are essential for BAT.

Course content for the advanced day:
The advanced BAT workshop is for students who have already learned about BAT 2.0 in depth. Up to 3 students can attend with dogs who are NOT reactive to people and dogs. Dogs attending must be able to comfortably relax around people and dogs in a group class setting, even without treats. Having the dogs present will give us all the opportunity to practice leash skills and various kinds of set-ups.
Prerequisite – attendees must do at least one of the following before the workshop:
– Attending a live seminar on BAT 2.0 (2 days or more)
– BAT 2.0 Empowered Animals series (DVD or streaming)
– BAT 101 online course
– Reading the BAT 2.0 Book

If you would like to attend with a dog, please contact Kim to discuss, be sure to tell us and describe your dog’s behavior around dogs and people. Also bring a bed, water, treats, crate, harness, clicker, poop bags, and a long leash. Some leashes may also be available to purchase.
All students (even without dogs) should bring a clicker and long leash for hands-on practice.

Grisha Stewart, MA, CPDT-KA is an author, international speaker, and dog trainer who specializes in dog reactivity. She founded the online Animal Building Blocks Academy in Alaska and Ahimsa Dog Training in Seattle, which has earned many awards, including Best of Western Washington. “Ahimsa” is a Buddhist doctrine of nonviolence to all living things, which reflects Grisha’s focus on empowerment to promote the well being of dogs and their humans.
Her latest book, “Behavior Adjustment Training 2.0: New Practical Techniques for Fear, Frustration, and Aggression,” was published by Dogwise in early 2016. Her popular second book, “The Official Ahimsa Dog Training Manual: A Practical, Force-Free Guide to Problem Solving & Manners,” was published in 2012 and updated in 2014. Her popular BAT 2.0 DVD series about empowered socialization and training, was released in 2014.

Grisha is an enthusiastic and entertaining presenter who creates her seminars to accommodate a variety of learning styles.

Harlow: Delving Deeper into Wounds

September 04, 2017 at BVNA (The British Veterinary Nursing Association) in Harlow.

tracking.php?code=IdyUE7ikqfwNxG2kAUpe5l

Wound management is a fundamental part of clinical practice but evidence suggests that there is a distinct lack of consistency in approach for open wound management and a lack of continuity care between team members. Although some may say that wounds often heal despite what we do ambiguity in management undoubtedly leads to healing delay and less than optimal outcomes for all concerned.
This course is aimed at qualified veterinary nurses wishing to further their knowledge and work towards becoming a dedicated wound nurse within the veterinary practice.
The course is delivered in a blended learning format and via an online learning platform (Moodle) and includes two attendance days spread over 6 months.

Harlow: Proprioception workshop with Sam Turner

August 06, 2017 at Nosey Barker in Harlow.

tracking.php?code=9lYh3uA2irmuyiwRhP8ktm

We are very lucky to have Sam Turner join us to deliver her amazing proprioception workshops

Morning workshop 10-12.30 £50 6 handler places
Afternoon workshop 14-16.30 £50 6 places places
spectator places available from £30

Through proprioception training we teach our dogs to be aware of their bodies, to develop good motor skills, balance, strength and flexibility. Dogs that are self-aware and have good motor skills also are more self-confident. Through teaching proprioception exercises we can help less confident or anxious dogs to be more confident in themselves and their handlers.

This is not just good for dogs that go into sports but is a basic need for any dog. Proprioception exercises can reduce the risk of injuries and increase fitness for any dog.

In the workshop we will be doing cavaletti work. This developes awareness and coordination of all 4 feet and it also works on focus, stamina and conditioning of the muscles.

We will also be working on feet placement on different objects to work on coordination and focus as well as balance work. For the balance work we will be working with balance balls. You will learn how to get started and learn about core stability training.

This workshop is appropriate for dogs aged 12 months and upward that do not have physical limitations due to inuries or otherwise.

Please note that dogs not booked in as a handler spot will not be able to attend this event, sorry. This event will be outdoors so please wear weather appropraite clothes
