About to finish GCSEs, A-Levels or university exams? Make the most of your early holiday by joining Mission Adventures
! Spend two weeks of your summer deepening your relationship with God as you join an outreach team and work alongside experienced missionaries in a cross
-cultural setting. Our staff take care of all the details and one of our YWAM missionaries will lead you on the trip
. Location options are focused mainly in Eastern Europe and include a variety of ministries that give you the opportunity to share the gospel, serve in practical ways and help you explore what it means to be a missionary both overseas and at home
The Mission Adventures programme begins with a 4-day training camp at Holmsted Manor, one of Youth With A Mission’s UK campuses. The camp is designed to provide those who will be going on the missions trip with an opportunity to get to know one another and to begin working together as a team. You and the other participants will engage in a variety of activities, including prayer and worship, teaching about the local culture of the nation you will visit, workshops on related ministry skills (such as storytelling or running children’s games, etc), biblical studies of missions and evangelism, and much much more! There will also be some surprise challenges which will require you all to practice good communication and cooperation skills. Everyone will participate in the same training camp, so it is also a great opportunity to connect with other missional minded young people from across England.
Accompanied by Mission Adventures staff, you and your newly formed team will embark on a 10-day cross-cultural missions trip. This outreach will consist of three elements: evangelism; some form of mercy ministry such as food distribution, working with the homeless, or visiting the sick; and serving in a practical way, such as teaching English or running a summer camp. The schedule during the trip will include a balance of ministry time, team time, and free time where you can relax or take in some local sights and culture.
Upon returning from the trip, Mission Adventures staff will guide you and your team through a 2-day debriefing, where you will have the chance to reflect and discuss, both personally and collectively, what you have experienced and what God has taught you during the program. There will also be some teaching during the debrief, such as practical tips on how to give a testimony about your missions trip to those back home, and different ways to take what you’ve learned and apply it within your local community. On the last day, we will celebrate together and thank God for all that He did in and through you during this time!
The Mission Adventures Exam Leavers and Students camp will be hosted at the YWAM Holmsted Manor campus. Over the last 40 years, Holmsted Manor has been a missionary training centre where thousands of people from around the world have been discipled to live their lives for Christ. This beautiful campus is situated on 17 acres of land in West Sussex, and offers breathtaking views of the countryside. You can walk around the extensive gardens and enjoy some quiet time by the stream which runs throughout the property. You will become a part of the rich history of missionaries sent out from this location to fulfill the Great Commission!
