Lincoln: Ed Byrne: Spoiler Alert

November 16, 2017 at The Engine Shed in Lincoln.

tracking.php?code=7wXrZpiqBEyLG4Bh0A3cEc

I originally intended to call the show, “I’ll Millennial You in a Minute”, but my promoter considered the title, “off-puttingly baffling”. That’s my own chainsaw in the photo, by the way.

Is life that bad or have we good reason to complain about it? Are we filled with righteous anger at a world gone wrong or are we all just a bunch of whiny little brats? In short, are we spoiled? Come and watch as Byrne takes this question, turns it upside down and shakes it until the funny falls out. Go on, spoil yourself.

Recognized as one of the finest observational comics in the industry, Ed’s television credits are countless (provided you’re really bad at counting); Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You, The Graham Norton Show, Live At The Apollo, The One Show, Comic Relief Bake Off 2015, The World’s Most Dangerous Roads and, most recently, he and Dara O Briain filmed the follow up their Big Adventure show for BBC2 entitled Dara and Ed’s Road to Mandalay.

Lincoln: Saying Goodbye Service Lincoln 2017

October 08, 2017 at Lincoln Cathedral in Lincoln.

tracking.php?code=unOCC0bOqXSsTT5ODq66nN

Here are some questions and answers we get asked a lot about SG services:

Who is the service for? The services are for anyone who has lost a baby in pregnancy, at birth or in early years, whether the loss was recent or 80 years ago.

Do I need a specific faith to attend? No the services are for anyone of any faith or no faith.

Can other members of my family attend a service? Yes – SG services are for the whole family, so whether you have personally lost a baby, a grandchild, or perhaps lost a sibling, you are very welcome to attend.

We are often asked whether it is ok for people to bring babies and children? The answer – Yes of course you can….SG services are for EVERYONE.

How long is a service? Around an hour.

How early should I get to a service? 30-45 mins prior is ideal.

What can I expect from a service? A wonderful service where you and everyone else honour the baby you have lost, and we publicly say our babies matter however short their lives were in the womb or post birth.

Do I need to be ready emotionally? NO! The service will meet you where you are at, thus why they are suitable for people who have lost their baby yesterday or many years ago.

As they are called Saying Goodbye services does that mean I need to say goodbye once and for all to my baby? NO! The name saying goodbye is about saying goodbye to the darkest grief so many people carry, so in time each person can remember their baby with a smile. Grief is sadly a lifelong journey, but how we carry that grief can truly change how we live our lives. As a charity we hope to be able to help each person carry the load and believe by honouring each baby lost and connecting with people personally we can remove feelings of isolation and desperation.

Can I attend more than one service? Of course, you are welcome at as many services as you wish to attend.

Am I welcome if I had a failed IVF attempt(s)? YES of course you are, this was a loss and the services are for ANYONE who has lost.

Am I welcome to attend a service if I have never lost a child, but grieve the fact I cannot have children? Yes you are very welcome.

Can I get involved with the charity? YES – we are always needing fundraisers and also people to take on other roles. At present we have around 200 team members, but we need at least 500…so if you want to join this wonderful team email us: office@sayinggoodbye.org

How many people do you support? The website has around 650,000 hits per month, and the support the charity offers now reaches over 50,000 people per week. Saying Goodbye is the leading division of The Mariposa Trust which is a registered UK charity. In North America, Saying Goodbye is part of Mariposa International.

Where can I find more information? Head to our websites: www.sayinggoodbye.org and www.mariposatrust.org

Can I raise money for the charity in honour of my lost baby? Yes -We have a separate FB page that focuses on fundraising, so if you would like to support us and raise money in honour of your lost baby, head to that page and send us a message. https://www.facebook.com/SayingGoodbyeFundraising

Where are all the service locations and dates listed? All services are listed on the website: http://www.sayinggoodbye.org/services

Lincoln: Happy Hooking with Carole Rennison!

September 10, 2017 at Needle and Thread in Lincoln.

tracking.php?code=M6tSeMiS0ts254q3OI2s28

Come and learn the beautiful traditional technique of “hooking” with top Hooking expert Carole Rennison at Needle & Thread and make your own hooked picture or christmas stocking!

Carole designs and creates beautiful hooking designs which she turns into cushions, artwork and bags! Her beautiful designs feature flowers, hearts, chickens and have a charming country appeal.

When we did this workshop in 2016 I was hooked, the hooking tool had to prized from my fingers at night – I didn’t want to stop!

Using a beautiful palette of carpet wool (hard wearing 80/20 carpet yarn) Carole will teach you this traditional technique which is easy to master and suitable for beginners or more experienced crafters. You will work on your hooked picture on a hooking frame (available to purchase from Carole at the end of the day*) if you are (forgive the pun) “hooked”. Your hooking tool that you use on the day will be yours to keep.

Starting on a practice piece of hessian (11 x 13″) you will learn about securing the hessian to the frame, and spend some time getting the hang of the hooking technique. Once you are comfortable with the technique you will then start on your piece with one of Carole’s gorgeous designs.

Carole will teach you how to finish your work for a professional finish, and advice on cleaning. By the end of the day you will be hooked! How much you get done in a day will depend on the speed of your hooking and the size of the design you choose to work on, it may be necessary to complete your piece at home.

You will leave with your sample piece and your hooked picture/stocking both sized 11 x 13″. This can be displayed as an artwork or framed or turned into a christmas stocking or cushion!

If you wish to turn your piece into a cushion or bag at home Carole will give guidance on how to do this, (additional materials such as bag frames are not included in the workshop).

Saturday 9th September – Happy Hooking with Carole Rennison 10am to 4pm £75

Sunday 10th September – Happy Hooking with Carole Rennison 10am to 4pm £75

Included: Delicious lunch, Coffee, Teas and Homemade Treats, all equipment and materials.

Limited places!

*Hooking frames are £20 if you wish to purchase from Carole to continue at home.
