Join the GhostFollowers team for the night, locked in the spooky Newsham Park Hospital. This fantastic old building with its endless corridors and rooms, dark basement, hospital rooms, chapel and mortuary will leave you chilled to the bone.

Originally it was built as an orphanage in 1874 for British seamen’s orphaned children, and housed hundreds of children who suffered cruel and harsh treatment by the matrons.

On the top floor, an attic is lined with cupboards – which were used as ‘naughty’ cupboards to lock misbehaving children inside. It is believed this area is haunted by the ghost of a little boy who died whilst locked in one of the cupboards. Guests have had terrifying experiences here.

The Orphanage eventually closed in 1951 and became Newsham Park hospital with a focus on patients with mental health issues and later a rest home.

The winding staircases come with ‘anti-suicide’ grills and lead to seemingly endless rooms and corridors. A nurse was reportedly found dead on the stairs after complaining of seeing ghostly apparitions.

It then closed in 1992 and the building has fallen into a state of disrepair.

As well as the main hospital building, there is also a courtyard with a school, gym hall, nurses accommodation block, theatre room, bell tower and swimming pool

Ghostly apparitions, loud noises, things being thrown, being physically touched, orbs, these are just some of the things that have been reported here. The GhostFollowers team have visited this eerie building on many occasions and team members have personally experienced some of these.
