Liverpool: Liverpool Philharmonic Experience: Delve Deep

March 03, 2016 at Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in Liverpool.

You may have enjoyed a performance at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, graduated from our stage as a student, or just love music – this is your chance to delve deeply into the history and workings of one of the UK’s oldest professional symphony orchestras (celebrating 175 years in 2015).

Examine some of rich historical material from our 175 year old archive, gain a better understanding of a musician’s life, and learn some of the intriguing (and ghostly!) stories behind the Grade II listed Art Deco Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

You’ll also experience a live performance/demonstration by a Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra musician.

The experience lasts approximately 2 hours. This is an accessible tour, but if you are a wheel-chair user or have access needs, please call us to make your booking, so we can accommodate your needs.

Why not join us for lunch in the Grand Foyer after your experience? We serve a range of seasonal soups, artisan sandwiches and hearty salads.

Liverpool: Laura Cannell and In Atoms

January 21, 2016 at everyman bistro, street cafe & theatre bar in Liverpool.

Deep Hedonia presents:
Laura Cannell
In Atoms
Thursday 21st January, 8pm
TIckets £7 advance

Based in rural East Anglia, Laura Cannell’s work draws on the emotional influences of the landscape and the sometimes dissonant chords of early and medieval music. With deconstructed bow and the extraordinary sound of double recorder, Laura’s music has grown out of unearthed fragments that became improvised pieces. Her music encompasses both wild animal calls and long forgotten liturgical fragments, which drawn through Laura’s music seem to originate from the same, ahistorical place. With a background in traditional folk, early and experimental music, she creates a solitary minimalist chamber music, where one player makes all the harmonies.

Support comes from Liverpool based tapeloop composer In Atoms, who has been quietly garnering recognition for blissfull and evocative soundscapes. 2015 has seen him collaborate with filmmakers and taking on a residency in Barrow-in-Furness for Full of Noises fest
