London: Lolly Stirk: active birth + hypnobreathing

Preparing for the birth of your baby

This unique one day workshop for women and their birthing partners is informative, practical and confidence building. Knowledge is power and you will gain a good understanding of how your body works during labour and birth, and how to encourage this innate and evolved process to flow.

Throughout the course, Lolly draws on her many years as Doula, Yoga teacher, Hypnobirther and Childbirth Educator. Her wealth of experience will provide you with the tools for working together before and during the birth. You will learn how to release tension and fear through education, breath work, visualisation, movement and massage.

To include:

Hypnobreathing, sounding and visualisation for labour and birth
• Environmental factors that compliment the release of birth hormones
• Gravity assisted positions and movements for labour and birth
• Water Birth
• Getting the best out of hospital or home birth

Attending Lolly’s yoga classes at triyoga will compliment the workshop.

I attended Lolly’s yoga classes while I was pregnant with all my children and I think it was the best present I ever gave them. It was two hours of peace, support and calm, as well as the incredible nurture of the yoga itself. I made friends that I still have, I learnt everything I needed to know about the birth, I felt looked after and cared for, and never felt so close to my baby. I even drank herbal tea! Lolly is an astonishing person – driven by a love for what she does and a commitment that women should be able to have a gentle pregnancy and an empowered birth. My children and I owe her a lot.

Lolly is a leading light in her field. Her career over 40 years has been dedicated to creating and developing the ideal practice for pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond. As a founder member of the Active Birth Movement in the 1980’s she campaigned for the rights of women to move freely and instinctively to birth their babies. She lectured for many years to midwives at Thames Valley University and at hospitals throughout the UK, sharing her expertise on the physiology of active birth. www.lollystirk.co.uk.
