London: Amszterdam és Keukenhof tulipánmezők csoportos kirándulás

April 13, 2018 at Tomi Londoni-Taxis in London.

Keukenhof– A világ legnagyobb virágoskertje. A hollandiai Lisse városka mellett található, Amszterdamtól délnyugatra. Méretei miatt gyakran Európa kertjének is nevezik. A hivatalos adatok szerint kb. 7 millió virághagymát ültetnek el évente a 32 hektáros parkban. A park minden évben március utolsó hetétől, május közepéig látogatható. A leglátványosabb a tulipánok virágzása idején, április közepén.
A kert többször is gazdát cserélt. A 19. században Van Pallandt báró és báróné Jan David Zocher kertépítészt és fiát Louis Paul Zochert bízták meg a kastély körüli kertek rendezésével. A virágoskert 32 hektárnyi területén 87 különböző fafajta és 100 nemesített tulipánfajta pompázik.

London: Stephen Hough at Southbank Centre April 5, 2018

April 05, 2018 at Royal Festival Hall in London.

Stephen Hough has been hailed as ‘our foremost pianist’ (The Sunday Times).

The Boston Globe calls him ‘simply one of the most interesting musicians around’.

His recital programmes are always ideas-focused, and today he makes an unusual pairing of German Romantic music with French musical impressionism from Debussy.

That composer’s two books of Images, pieces whose imaginative textures absorb us in a series of exotic scenes, are complemented by his two best-known moonlit works, the tender Clair de Lune and the prelude La terrasse des audiences au clair de lune.

The first half then plunges into Robert Schumann’s turbulent outpouring of love for his distant beloved, the pianist Clara Wieck, in the Fantasie in C.

The second half is completed by Beethoven’s Sonata Op.57, the Appassionata, a tempestuous work of transcendental power.

Debussy: Clair de lune from Suite bergamasque for piano; Images for piano, Set 2
Schumann: Fantasie in C, Op.17
Debussy: La terrasse des audiences du clair de lune, No.7 from Préludes, Bk.2; Images for piano, Set 1
Beethoven: Piano Sonata in F minor, Op.57 (Appassionata)

London: Maurizio Pollini at Southbank Centre March 13, 2018

March 13, 2018 at Royal Festival Hall in London.

Maurizio Pollini is revered worldwide as today’s towering elder statesman of the piano.

He makes a welcome return to Royal Festival Hall.

The Italian pianist’s performances here have always proved highlights of the season. In recent years, he has been praised for his `peerless, supremely authoritative performances’ (The Guardian) in music ranging from Bach to Boulez by way of Chopin, Schumann and much more.

`One of the things that’s always marked Pollini’s playing is its urgency. It’s the sense of being pulled forward that paradoxically gives Pollini’s famously tranced, beautiful sound its special quality’ (The Telegraph).

Programme to be announced.

London: Boris Giltburg at Southbank Centre February 28, 2018

February 28, 2018 at St John’s Smith Square in London.

The Israeli pianist Boris Giltburg first rose to prominence while still in his teens.

After he won first prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Brussels, in 2013, his career became stratospheric.

He has been particularly praised for his performances of Russian music and tonight’s concert is a special opportunity to hear him in the immensely colourful, intense and poetic set of Études-tableaux (picture studies), Op.39 by Rachmaninov.

The programme also features Giltburg’s own much-acclaimed transcription for piano of Shostakovich’s String Quartet No.8. The work contains ferocious emotion and many autobiographical elements.

The concert opens with Brahms’s rich-hued Fantasias, Op.116.

Shostakovich: String Quartet No.8 in C minor, Op.110 arr. Boris Giltburg for piano
Rachmaninov: Etudes-tableaux, Op.39

London: Will Varley (Rescheduled date)

February 09, 2018 at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in London.

Combining melancholic ballads and fiery protest songs with audience interaction and surreal improvised comedy, Will Varley Music’s live performances have become grown ever more anarchic over the years. The folk singer comes to us in support of his critically-acclaimed fourth album, Kingsdown Sundown.

Words from Will about the venue change:
After much deliberation, we have decided to move my November tour to January and February 2018. I’ve been offered the opportunity to work with a really incredible producer but hopefully this will mean I’ll have a new album for you all very soon.

Unfortunately this is the only way we could make the dates work and although all tickets original will still be valid for the rescheduled shows, I’m really sorry for any inconvenience this still might cause any of you.

I haven’t made this decision lightly, but I feel like it will be for the greater good as I want to make the best record I can. I can’t wait for you all to hear the new songs.

See you all in 2018.

Ticket price: £17 excluding booking fees (original tickets still valid for new date).

Age Restriction: 8+; under 14s to be accompanied by adult 18+

Doors 7pm // Curfew 11pm. Set times / supports TBA closer to the date.

London: Martin Helmchen at Southbank Centre February 7, 2018

February 07, 2018 at St John’s Smith Square in London.

The paper writes, `The world isn’t short of brilliant concert pianists, but [he] stands out even in that remarkable crowd.’ The young German artist has built an enviable reputation with emphasis on the Austro-German Classical and Romantic repertoire and a lively concern with contemporary music.

Helmchen has built an enviable reputation particularly in the classical and romantic repertoire. Schumann’s Novelletten form the largest and the least known among Schumann’s major piano cycles with the music clearly written in an exultant mood. In the second half we hear Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, a startlingly original masterpiece filled with power, wit and virtuosity.

Schumann: Novellette in F, Op.21 No.1; Novellette in D, Op.21 No.2; Novellette in D, Op.21 No.5; Novellette in F sharp minor, Op.21 No.8
Beethoven: 33 Variations on a waltz by Diabelli, Op.120
