London: Photography Workshops on Hampstead Heath

June 24, 2017 at Education Centre, Next to the Lido in London.

A one-day digital photography workshop providing you with a unique experience to engage with nature through photography. This will include group discussions, an image editing and printing session resulting in each participant taking away an exhibition quality print of their work.

Autumn Beech Trees by Matthew Maran
Whether you are a beginner or keen amateur this workshop will provide a framework of support for those interested in connecting with nature through photography. We will look at capturing shapes, contrast, tone, texture, and composition and get you to consider what inspires you and why.
Whether it’s the detail of a beautiful old growth oak tree, close up shots of the forest floor, or the spectacular grassland expanse with the back drop of the London skyline – there are countless opportunities to capture creative images on The Heath.

Anna Bonita focusing on the detail of an oak tree
All too often digital images remain on computer hard drives or never go beyond a quick glance on a camera screen. This workshop will get you active with your images and encourage you to explore ideas and themes with an end product.

Back at the studio working on the images and printing
The day will be split into two sessions:
The morning will be spent at a specially chosen site in the 700+ acres of London’s Hampstead Heath, with ample time and support provided for photography. The second half of the day will be spent at the Education Centre next to the lido for editing, group discussion and printing. Participants will take home a beautiful, exhibition quality print from the day.
Timetable for the day:
8.30am: Meet at the Education Centre for an early start to get the most out of the morning light.
8.35am: Leave Education Centre for a brisk walk to the chosen location and a chance to meet and greet group members along the way.
8.45am: Shooting commences – The aim is to provide an environment to explore creativity and share ideas, take your time focusing on a specific subject or viewpoint and have lots of fun in the process. I will be on hand to help and advise with any technical difficulties and cater to your individual needs. Tea and coffee will be provided.
12.30am: Pack up and make way back to the Education Centre
1.00pm-1.25pm: Working lunch at the Centre – select images from the morning’s shoot
1.25-3.55pm: Guided, basic image adjustments in Photoshop, group discussion and feedback, final image selection and printing.
