Manchester: The History of Manchester in 20 Objects (Manchester International Festival…

June 29, 2017 at Visitors Centre in Manchester.

An off-beat, sideways, soi-disant look at the city’s history through 20 objects, some possibly familiar, some possibly little-seen, others possibly barely-noticed (statues, plaques, cartouches, shields etc) in the city centre…
… from the much-hated “Berlin Wall” in Piccadilly Gardens to the misunderstood “IRA” pillar box on Corporation Street, via the sacred geometry of the Cenotaph, the strange ball on top of the Town Hall spire, the lifesize statue of one of the oddest figures in Manchester history and much more.
* We start from the Visitor Centre in Piccadilly Gardens.
And a review from a very satisfied customer.
“Dear EdThank you for a most interesting tour of’ ‘Manchester in 20 Objects’ last Tuesday. It was such a shame that more people did not turn up but those who joined us thoroughly enjoyed it! I was amazed at the familiar and unfamiliar objects that you chose to talk about and I shall now go around our city looking for some objects of my own!Thank you for all your efforts”

Manchester: The Maccabees: Live For The Last Time – The Farewell Shows

June 28, 2017 at O2 Apollo Manchester in Manchester.

Last August The Maccabees split, much to the dismay of the musical community. This followed a brilliant 12 month period where the band scaled new heights; headlining Latitude Festival and getting their first number one album with the acclaimed ‘Marks To Prove It’.

Now we have the chance to bid this much loved band a proper farewell with two must see nights at London’s Alexandra Palace and one show at the Manchester Apollo next summer. Without doubt, these shows will be one of the highlights of 2017.

Felix White says, “We’re planning on these final shows being a huge celebration, thank you and goodbye to 14 years of writing, recording, playing and touring together.”

Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult
