Manchester: Rock & Pop Showcase

February 28, 2016 at Band on the Wall in Manchester.

Celebrating the work of nine up and coming young bands from across the Greater Manchester region.

The Greater Manchester Music Hub is a partnership between nine Local Authority Music Services and a host of professional arts organisations including Band on the Wall. One aspect of the work of the hub is to promote excellence and provide special opportunities for those young musicians who achieve high standards. This inaugural showcase event will bring together one nominated band from each of the nine LA areas. The bands will most likely have already been successful at local performance events and on this occasion they take to the famous Band on the Wall stage with their peers from further afield.

Manchester: Peter Andre: Come Swing With Me Tour 2016

March 06, 2016 at O2 Apollo Manchester in Manchester.

As this Friday’s release of his new studio album ‘Come Fly With Me’ approaches, global superstar Peter Andre can now announce details of a major UK arena and theatre tour that includes a mammoth show at The O2 in London. The news of the ‘Come Swing With Me’ tour also coincides with Peter’s participation on the current celeb-packed series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The tour will see Peter Andre backed by his live band that can effortlessly mash-up swing with fresh versions of his older hits and other pop classic. It’s a show that promises to bring the authentic swingin’ sounds of the Rat Pack classics that feature on ‘Come Fly With Me’ to life, from the rhythmic diction of Peter’s vocals through to live percussion and a full brass section.

“’Performing live on stage is what I love doing best” says Peter. “Hopefully if you come to see my show you’ll be impressed. I have put so much effort into production and choreography, we have a great team working with us. Please come and enjoy a wonderful evening with me. See you soon.”

Part of our Creative Business Development programme.

What will I learn?

– Budgeting (as a creative business sole trader).
– Setting financial plans for the year ahead.
– Finding the right financial management system for you.
– Pricing and profitability – making sure there is a profit!
– Improving your cashflow.

Is this workshop for me?
The answer’s yes if you’re:

– A maker, designer or artist who struggles with financial management.
– Looking to build some new skills and confidence.
– Looking to start 2016 with a new financial plan (and attitude towards planning!)

Who’s Sarah?

Sarah regularly speaks at business start up events and initiatives across the UK and internationally, and at arts sector conferences and events, as well as contributing to Creative Industry programmes through her research, data and expertise.

Manchester: EXHIBITION LAUNCH – Behind Closed Doors: Ceramics by Verity Howard

February 25, 2016 at MCDC – Manchester Craft & Design Centre in Manchester.

Verity Howard describes her slab-built ceramic forms as ‘contemplative rather than functional’, each conveying a sense of stillness and the eerie sensation of being an outsider looking in. Her pieces are influenced by the built environment and each one features a monoprinted or stamped glimpse through a window.

Behind Closed Doors includes work from her final year at university, and new work made at a 2015 residency at Guldagergaard: The International Ceramic Research Center in Denmark.

Join us for live music from our resident DJ Ailsa McLaggan of Living Room Dance Club, and rum cocktails from The Duppy Share!

Both the exhibition and launch event are free, no booking required.

The exhibition runs until Sunday 29 May 2016.
